Current Research Interests
I remain interested in Dipteran chromosome structure and function, and in addition to my association with CESAR, I continue to maintain collaboration with research groups in Brazil, particularly at the University of Sao Paulo and at the Federal University in Ponta Grossa, Panama.
At CESAR I have been developing in situ hybridization to do reference mapping of the D serrata genome in conjunction with the molecular mapping done by Mark Blacket and Steve Chenowrth.  At the present time, I have mapped several dozen genes on all chromosome arms, using D melanogaster probes and PCR probes from D serrata.  I am especially interested in mapping genes within the major inversions of D serrata.  In the future, I will be participating in the examination of inversions in D birchii and D bunanda
