My project investigates the response of Drosophila melanogaster to xenobiotic exposure. Drosophila rapidly increase transcription of detoxifying genes when challenged with various xenobiotic inducers. We are interested in identifying the transcription factors involved in mediating transcriptional upregulation, as well as xenobiotic response elements (XREs) present in Cytochrome P450 5' promoter sequences that enhance transcription. |
